El Paso de Fuego is a natural passage between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans located where Costa Rica exits in our Central America. Plagued with strong currents it is passable at only certain times and sailing ships need steam powered tugs. The best description of it is in Storm Surge chapter 26. Fred Reynolds calls it a "Natural Panama Canal in Costa Rica."
