Fitzhugh Gray was the senior enlisted man on USS Walker. He is from Alabama [Crusade Pb. p. 169.]

Gray was killed during the First Battle of Grik City in the book Deadly Shores, when the Grik briefly overran the beached USS Walker.

Ranks and Positions Held Edit

Before and after crossing to the other earth in The Squall, Fitzhugh Gray was officially the Bosun, affectionately called "Boats", on USS Walker and also the highest ranking NCO on Walker, and later, the Grand Alliance.

In addition to being the Bosun, Gray also held the unofficial and purely nominal position of "Super Bosun", mostly due to the great respect, influence, and authority he carried with both his fellow destoryermen and the Lemurians. His influence was so great that Chack-Sab-At still prefers to style himself as Chief Bosun's Mate, despite Gray's death in the First Battle of Grik City.

Later on, after the chaos of the Battle of The Dueling Grounds, when the Holy Dominion violently attacked the Empire of New Britain Isles with much treachery, Gray took it upon himself to form the "Captain's Guard". The Captain's Guard is a small armed force of Marines from Walker that accompany Lt. Cmdr. Matthew Reddy whenever and wherever he goes ashore, and will even stick with him at the cost of their own lives, as evidenced by Gray's, and several Lemurians's, sacrifices at the Battle of Grik City.

Relationships Edit

Gray commanded much respect from both Lemurians and humans alike, and was often called the "Super Boson". However, his most difficult challenges were with the semi-psychotic Chief Gunner's Mate Dennis Silva, with whom Gray often butted heads. Despite the sharp contrasts in their personalities, over time after the events of The Squal, their respect grew for each other and their seemingly volatile relationship appears to have gone from one born out of animosity, to one born out of a need to have some semblance of normalcy, even during all the "weirdness" Walker has experienced in the past few years.

It is known that Gray was sweet on the ex-pat Imperial gal-assistant of Lt. Sandra Tucker (Reddy), Diania, but how far that relationship went is not known.
