Yes, you followed the bread crumbs. Taael is here too I made him a Bureaucrat here so he could see the controls of a Bureaucrat when he decided to take over the Gate Page. July 10 is the release date of the next Destroyermen novel, River of Bones.
I have an odd question. Recently I've been reading up on the history of armored trains and I find them to be quite facinating. And it got me thinking, since the Republic has a sophisticated railway network and semi-modern field guns, has TA mentioned anything about featuring an armored train? (again sorry I haven't been on much but I'm in the middle of my senior year of college and my God is it a pain in the ass, I'm having to hit the books extra hard to keep up).
Taylor has said nothing about Republic armored trains, but as the Grik have very limited air power and no cavalry to hook back of the front I doubt they will be needed. My thought is the railroad will not catch up to the front and will be behind the lines, nor would the Grik see it as that important. The only thing he has mentioned is a Lemurian marble game will be interupted by the war in the next book in answer to why there is limited gambeling in the series IE no Acy ducey poker, or craps. I suggested the title for the next book To taylor should be "up Shit Creek" IE the Zambezi River, he liked it but too late to change the title. Indicates next book will have a lot of the African front.
Hobbies are always secondary to getting the best grades you can. Your exprience being an Admin on a Wikia will be a good bullet point on your resume.
The Destroyermen Fan Association is again doing a Fan Fiction contest for Taylor Back story of a character who has died Devil's Due or earlier either one of Taylors 110 deceased characters or a character you invent that gets killed. Prizes will be signed hardbacks not ARCs Luck to you in your final year, unless go for the MS more shit degree or worse the PhD piled higher and deeper :)
You have Taylor's E-Mail address write him to ask for a ARC as I only asked for Alexey and me figuring you would get another hardback but as all prizes are hardbacks he may not have enough. And you can ask about armored trains direct hopefully you will have the Christmas break to write him. He is currently working on the book after the next.
Fan Fiction Contest #2 Prize autographed hardback of the next book. Dead line for submission day prior to the release date of the next book, TBA. Length suit yourself some where between 10 and 25 pages would be nice, but can be as large a file as Facebook will accept. Please put the words DESTROYERMEN FAN-FICTION CONTEST ENTRY as the first line. Submit entries to:
The winner will be chosen by a poll Depending on the number of entries the Association Leadership will select their favorite four stories for the poll.
To keep our favorite author out of legal hasses write one of the two types of stories:
1) Write something with established circumstances as a backdrop, but from another perspective. Just some grunt in the trenches around Baalkpan or a pilot in Tikker's 1st Air wing when they're trying to bash the Grik dreadnoughts when they first show up. Or a Dom crew member on Matarife. Or maybe some Maroon "cap'n" who doesn't think working with Chack and the Allies is a good idea. Or one of the Erokis running from the Super lizard MTB7 torpedoes in the Mangoro river. etc.
2) Write a back story using one of Taylor's dead characters . 110 possibilities to choose from, Like sword and swashbuckling Haaker Faask is available, like the navy many of Walker's original crew have died. see:
I'm doing some editing since I just finished Devils Due and one of the main things I'm focusing on are the nations/factions pages. I haven't used a wiki in a while and I'm having trouble deleting and uploading photos. I was wondering if you could delete the Zanzabar map on the Zanzabar page and replace it with the one used in the book Devils Due?
Taylor sent two Zanzabar maps I'm going to upload the third he wanted it kept until the first as it is Silva's notes. They realy changed the Wiki a bit. takes a while to learn things. Will remove old map from article.
Also I'm going to try to work on the Grik Species page. A lot of it is accurate and useful information however it doens't decern the difference between the grik empire and the grik species. I plan to make it more clear that there is a difference between the empire and the species.
Just got the new book and will be editing this wiki again. Be warned though I now work 2 jobs so posting isn't going to be consistant. Luckily I don't have to take the jobs home with me like I do college.
On top of everything else the powers that be redesigned the top of the page, and you get shoved into classic editor alot, OK but a mess for templates. If you go to the exicutive page the third icon next to the pages you add photos there [more options ;) ] and have access to the full copyright icons. It's a bug they are aware of. For regular articles I start out in Classic, save, then go to regular editor to put in boxes, not that I've put in pages for the new characters and ships you don't have to mess with this! Thinking about putting up the small arms of the Republic Darby Gun = French 75 Oh heck my notes
New Aircraft and Weapons introduced in Devil’s Due:
Republic Derby Gun (based on French 75) breach loading 75mm field peace made in Derby, Republic of Real People
Republic Cantet airplanes, bi-plane, crew 2- pilot and observer/machine gunner colored with a kind of earth colored jagged checked pattern.Engine liquid cooled, but more powerful for their size .
At least 3 or the 4 tanks were knocked out in Operation Outhouse Rat (OOR)
Single Shot bolt action rifles shooting 11mm based on Mauser Model 1871 see Info from Taylor Anderson
11mm Revolver see Info from Taylor
Info from Taylor Anderson for Wiki: Tech Data suitable for Wiki: As of Devil’s Due, the “standard” infantry rifle of the United Homes and increasingly, the Grand Alliance (with the exception of the Republic of Real People) is the Allin-Silva “trapdoor” conversion. It has a 36″ barrel with a bore diameter of .50, land to land, and .514 groove to groove. Rate of twist is 1-48″. It fires a .50-80 caliber straight(very slightly tapered)cartridge, loaded with a 450grn medium-soft alloy lead bullet with large grease grooves filled with a high temperature natural wax cut with grikakka oil. The bullet alloys vary, but achieve a Brinell hardness @ 10. Powder charge is 80grns of medium fine (roughly 3FFFG equivalent) charcoal, potassium nitrate, and sulfur gunpowder. Muzzle velocity averages 1,500 FPS (checked on a LabRadar Doppler radar chronograph). The Republic is currently wedded to a single-shot bolt action 11mm (.43 Mauser) based on the M-71 [see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauser_Model_1871 ], without a magazine. (This may well change, now that the necessity is apparent, but the original reasoning was to quickly produce a strong, simple breechloader they could easily feed). The Republic’s service revolver is also 11mm.
There is a page entitled "Grik" and this page has been bothering more than any other page on this entire wiki. I spent about an hour smoothing out and adding to the "Grik Empire" page however the page labled simply as "Grik" is confussing for me and I'm considering renaming it "Grik (Species)" and erasing all of the information on it and starting over again (since all of the information of that page is already on the "Grik Empire" page). But in order for me to do this Grik Species page I need to know what all clasifies as Grik. Are the Tagranesi Grik? Are the Khonashi Grik? And are the Swamp Lizards Grik too? Or is the term "Grik" used just to describe the inhabitants of the Grik Empire? If the latter is true then what is the actual name of this species of lizard people we've been fighting since the first book? And are the Tagranesi, Khonashi, and the Swamp Lizards of the same species or are they of an entirely different race alltogether?
I'm absolutly shit at explaining things so if you're confuesed by this just let me know and I'll see if I can find a way to explain it in Layman terms.
The books to date have used race when refering to Grik like species but nothing definative. I know a little of culture and life cycle that will be in next book, and he noted we will learn a lot about the Grik. Thus I think the Species or Race question is not firm yet. He has been very busy with book promotions and conventions so we have not talked lately.
Oh did you notice Taylor’s hint in BITW that Keje-Fris-Ar and Tassat-Ay-Aracca may be romantically involved, both are single needing a mate, and their USNRS carriers, Salissa and Arracca, have linked to form a “Home” under the new constitution of the United Homes? Guess I need to make a smaller carrier silhouet to fit two in the circle for a UH flag.
